Google60 Search Mad Men Style – takes you back to 1960s
Google had not been there at 1960s, had you ever wished to see how it would have been, take a leap to Google60.
Norbert Landsteiner, who earlier this year released Google BBS, had replaced the Google front end with a virtual IBM 360-like interface, say with punch cards and a “Mad Men style,” 1960s aesthetic!
The page accesses search and news services by Google™ in order to provide realistic results in an artistic layout.
After you type in a search term on the virtual typewriter, you get three options to select from – text search, image search or Get latest news. Once the control input is given, the machine searches for data on the tape deck.
The final results are printed on tractor feed paper. You could also control volume of all output sounds, many of which are derived from actual devices such as the IBM 129 Keypunch, and Teletype Model 33. You may speed up this process by clicking the splash-screen or by hitting a key. To return to the splash-screen, click the logo at the very top.
Even-though Google60 is slower and noisy, it a good attempt to bring out a fruitful nostalgia in the high-end world! What do you think?! Tell us in your comments!
