Misao Okawa – World’s oldest woman turns 115!

Do you want to live long? Then I bet you should definitely get some tips from Misao Okawa, a descendant of kimono merchants. Okawa lives in the city of Osaka, western Japan.

Okawa was born on March 5, 1898, which means the day I’m posting this news she celebrated her birthday! It happened in a Japanese nursing home where she received a lot of healthy flowers  receiving flowers and her favourite mackerel sushi dish!

She has three children, two of whom, a son and a daughter are still alive, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren! She told a broadcaster that she had never expected to live to such a great age but had managed it “thanks to everybody.” It is to be noted that she never had had any major health problems, but broke her leg at 102.

Late last month she did receive the certificate from Guinness World Records, which confirms her status as the oldest living woman! One more update for you is that the world’s oldest living person is a 115-year-old Japanese man, Jiroemon Kimura who lives in Kyoto! Happy to see that Japan cherishing long-lived people!
