Techglimpse wishes you all a Happy Republic Day!!
Its the 65th year since India got its freedom and today, the 26th of January is when the constitution came into force replacing the Government of India Act (1935). The Constitution of India was formed and enacted in 1950. The Constitution of India was passed by the Constituent Assembly of India on 26th November 1949 but was adopted only on 26th January 1950 with a democratic government system completing the transition toward the country being an independent republic.
The Constitution of India lays the framework defining the fundamental political principle, establishes the structure, procedures, power, and duties of government institutions, and sets out fundamental rights, directive principles and duties of citizens. Here is the preamble to the constitution, as we know it.
WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens. JUSTICE, social, economic and political LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship EQUALITY of status and opportunity and to promote among them all FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation. IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty sixth of November, 1949, DO HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
