iPad3’s Smart Cover sleep or wake feature is not working

Apple’s new iPad has made a record sale of 3 million devices in just 3 days. Now its time for the Apple’s support team to wake up and respond to problems reported by its users. New iPad buyers have quickly discovered few problems in the device. If you are a follower of Techglimpse, then you might have read our article about “iPad’s heat problems” and now here’s another problem reported by many users in the Apple’s support forum.

The iPad smart cover sleep or wake feature is not working properly with some of the third party cases. According to the demonstration by Mr. Mark Booth (the Photographer), the iPad’s sleep or wake feature is triggered by a small magnet embedded in the case’s cover. His test includes two iPad cover cases, for which the feature works well in one cover case and not in the other. The possible cause for the problem could be the misplacement of the magnet in the case’s cover, but the magnets in both the cover cases very aligned perfectly.  Apple is rumored to have moved the location of the magnetic sensor in the iPad 3 and thus the magnet in some cases doesn’t line up properly. While that might be the problem with some case designs, according to Mark. He also added that the Maroo Moko II case that he happened to purchase recently did not have this problem.
