LG and China Mobile demonstrates TD-LTE supported Smartphone in MWC
BARCELONA — The leading Electronics and Consumer products maker LG and China Mobile has modified the new LG Optimus G smartphone to support TD-LTE (Time Division Long Term Evolution) and demonstrated it successfully during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. For those who are not aware of LTE – It is the acronym of Long-Term Evolution, that provides fastest mobile internet connection. But what’s that TD-LTE (Time Division Long-Term Evolution)?
Generally most of the mobile manufacturers use FD-LTE (Frequency-Division Long-Term Evolution), is a standard that uses two separate frequencies for transmitting and receiving data. Whereas in TD-LTE, the receiving and transmitting happens on the same frequency, but at a different time.
But what is the advantage of using TD-LTE? According to an interview of LG CEO and President Jong-seok Park, “TD-LTE has the potential to cover 2.7 billion people in Asia alone and today’s demonstration proves that this technology is ready for consumers,”
According to the reports, China Mobile plans to launch TD-LTE service in China during the second half of 2013 and at the same time, LG plans to launch TD-LTE compatible smartphone as well.
