Read about LG’s new Flexible, curved, self-healing smartphone – LG G Flex!
LG’s new G flex, has a curved screen and possesses flexible nature. But, it is not as flexible as rubber and you will need a strong hands to flex it! Powered by Android 4.3 (Jelly bean) OS, it has Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, comes with 2 GB RAM and Qualcomm snapdragon 800 chipset.
Coming to memory – it has 32GB built-in memory and expandable up to 24 GB. Though the mobile impresses in terms of size and flexibility, the screen has only 720p resolution – but, a full RGB matrix rather than a PenTile, which does help in clarity. The screen is a special type of OLED– manufactured by LG and is protected with Gorilla glass which is scratch resistant. Though the LG flex design helps to reduce glare a little in the sunlight and the contrast ratio is not much promising. Amazing multitasking with split screen option of size 160.5×81.6×8.7mm is just perfect size for 6″ screen with a beautiful curvature. Though pocket-ability is not ensured, the usage of the phone becomes easy with its curvature.
The backside is occupied with the attention gaining volume rocker and camera lens just below where the power button is placed. Around the camera and volume control there are two squares; one of which is LED and the another is IR blaster. But it is felt that putting the IR blaster on the front will be better than putting it here. Also to mention about its unique self-healing facility, which has the ability of healing itself if scratched. This clearly states that there is no need of any ugly protective cover which makes the phone more heavy.
There is an LED light which illuminates the power button and also for notifications. Similarly, an RGB light in the front for giving notifications. However LG software allows you to use a special application for using these LEDs.
Being facilitated with 13 megapixel camera with auto focus light, timer, smart shutter and VR panaroma, it also has a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera and 1080p video recording. Although it has 13 mp camera and 1080p video recording, it has failed to satisfy its customers with the clarity of the images. Because the pixel density is low and also lacks in optical image stabilization.
Amazingly, it has a flexible, curved battery which stands for around second best in talktime!
The sides remains almost clear as all the options featured on the backside. It has only the USB port and TV port which is ejected out by a pin.
The natural curve in the handset makes your hands move in arcs rather than a straight line. But this has the risk of slipping down the phone while taking it from the pockets. So pocketability is little disappointing. This flexibility and curvature is not of any practical use, but just a different appearance. The overall review of the phone is good, but it depends upon the choice of the user.
