Panasonic lights up Tokyo river for Firefly Hotaru festival with 10,000 LED’s

The Tokyo river was flooded with 10,000 LED’s by Panasonic for the Tokyo Hotaru festival to commemorate the scarce insects that used to light up the river in the night. Japanese had an ancient habit of commemorating those insects, which in turn took a technological twist in 2012. The consumer electronics giant Panasonic had floated ten thousand solar powered LED lights, that can light up when it makes a contact with the water. The Sumida river that runs via the central Tokyo was completely decorated with the lights. Below is the photo, part of the river that was illuminated using the beautiful blue lights,
