All you need to know about Apple’s iPad Event in 5 minutes
October 22, 2013 was the day to remember in history of Apple Events. The company announced a ton of new stuff during an iPad Event in San Francisco. Most notably, the new iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina display, interesting stuffs for Mac, OS X Mavericks, updated MacBook Pro and some cool changes to iLife and iWork. Apple tried to compress those stuffs into ninety minutes and here we’ll recap all those in 5 minutes.
The new iPad Air
As rumors suggested, the thinnest and lightest iPad ever; 7.5mm thick, which is 20% thinner than iPad 4 and weighs just 1 pound. The device is powered by Apple’s new 64 bit A7 processor and new M7 motion coprocessor. It comes with 5 megapixel rear facing camera, FaceTime HD front-facing camera and 802.11a/b/g/n.
The iPad Air will hit the market during the first week of November and will cost $499 for a 16GB WiFi only model and $629 for a 16GB LTE model.
The iPad Mini with Retina Treat
Another bigger announcement, the iPad mini gets a high 2,048 x 1,536 resolution Retina display. The device is powered by the same 64-bit A7 processor, new M7 coprocessor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The Retina treated iPad mini will hit the market during November and will cost $399 for a 16GB tablet, which $100 more than non-retina iPad mini.
OSX Mavericks goes Free
You would have never expected this right? Yes, OSX Mavericks can be freely downloaded by all Mac users. The upgrade is available in Mac App store and its support starts from OS X Snow Leopard till Mountain Lion.
Another highlight of Mac announcement was its support on iMac and MacBook Pro.
MacBook Pro also gets Retina Treat
The 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with Retina display and will cost just $1,299, which is $200 less than its earlier price. The 15-inch model expected to cost around $1,999. The new MacBook will support Thunderbolt 2 and powered by Intel’s integrated graphics technology. The 15-inch model MacBook Pro is configurable with Nvidia’s GeForce GT 750 discrete graphics and has 2GB video memory for stunning graphics performance.
Refreshed iLife and iWork
iLife, including iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto gets revamped with a new look and feel for iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks. The GarageBand can record up to 32 tracks at once and can also sync with iCloud.
iWork has also seen few updates, which includes updated keynote, numbers, pages with new features.
