A Robot which can run at a speed of 18mph!

A new robot named cheetah, designed by the boffins at DARPA can run at a speed of 18 miles per hour.  The robot was designed as an attempt to break the record set by the Jamaican’s Usain Bolt, which can run at a speed over 27 miles per hour.  Though the cheetah couldn’t reach the mile stone set by Usain Bolt, but still it broke the record set previously by a robot (which can run at a speed of 13mph) in the year 1989.

Humans are generally the slow runners when compared to four-legged animals. But the mammals like cheetah or big cats will stop when its body temperature rises, because they don’t sweat like humans. Humans body gets cooled by the sweat. Unlike us, mammals don’t cool themselves with sweat. According to the study, the robot cheetah might also face the same problem of getting over heated.

But still it’s an appreciating attempt by DARPA.
