Sony playstation move controller
Sony just unveiled their new motion controller at GDC 2010, the PlayStation Move, finally allowing them to compete head-to-head with the Nintendo Wii’s stranglehold on the casual gamer console market.
Calling it the “next generation of motion gaming” based upon precision of movement and boasting a latency about the same as a DualShock 3 controller, the PlayStation Move uses the PlayStation Eye to track the controller… hence that big, colorful clown ball at the end of each device. Sony promises it works well, and that the PlayStation Move should quickly become an “extension of your body.”
When it’s released around mid 2010, you’ll be able to get the PlayStation Move in one of three ways: in a bundle with a PlayStation 3, standalone, or in a starter kit that will cost under $100 that contains both the Move controller, the PlayStation Eye and a game (presumably the equivalent of Wii Sports). Sony’s treating this as a big deal, claiming it’s the equivalent of a new console launch.
