The Smart Finger – Measures Everything
The history of measurements is very long, it traces back to ancient times when humans used their body parts as the standard of measurement, for instance “a foot”. You definitely think that the need for such measurements paved away, because there appeared metric and imperial systems that are now commonly used. On the one hand you are right, but on the other hand measurement with help of body parts seems to come back with the new Smart Finger designed by Choi Hyong-Suk and Jung Ji-hye & Yoo-Jin Park. The Smart Finger is a new measurement device that is used in a very interesting way – it caps your thumb and forefinger. The device uses the signals relayed between the two finger points and calculates the measurement.
The device is made of silicon, thus it offers a comfortable fit to any finger size. With help of the Smart Finger you can measure length, breadth or volume through simple button operations – it is easy to use, this is one more its advantage. You will see the measured distance displayed through LED. There are two buttons that help display the measurements in different units. The device records and stores the measurement, calculates volume and area. The information can be seen viewed in text format.
