Tizen OS revealed- Set to feature in Mirrorless camera

Samsung has recently taken to the development of Tizen OS- The OS that was set to replace Bada. Tizen has been in development for a long time but no devices came out. The development time sure is slow but Samsung should make out some plans to catch up. One such thing is the mirrorless camera featuring Tizen OS- the first camera to come out featuring Tizen 3.0.

Tizen  is a Linux-based operating system for devices including smartphones, tablets, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) devices, smart TVs and smart cameras. Its licensing model involves software using a variety of open source licenses which may be incompatible, along with a proprietary SDK. It aims to offer a consistent user experience across devices. The Tizen project resides within the Linux Foundation and is governed by a Technical Steering Group (TSG) composed of Samsung and Intel. The Tizen project is similar to the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) of Android and is said to feature the major carriers and OEMs.

Current members include Fujitsu, Huawei, Intel Corporation, KT, NEC CASIO Mobile Communications, NTT DOCOMO, Orange, Panasonic Mobile Communications, Samsung, SK Telecom, Sprint and Vodafone. Samsung states Tizen 3.0 supports IA and ARM chips, while the 64-bit support will have a positive impact on performance and bring larger memory address space. The mirrorless camera is featuring Tizen OS and it went on sale a month back but Samsung is just now breaking the ice on the matter that the camera runs Tizen. There has been a lot of changes done to the OS which incorporates both Samsung’s Bada OS and Intel’s and Nokia’s MeeGo OS. Expect the first smartphone to run Tizen OS anytime in the near future. !!!
