Twitter hacked with access to 250,000 user data !
On Friday 1st feb 2013, twitter blog said that, it detected an unusual access patterns which led to identifying unauthorized access to user data. Twitter has chosen a funny title for this blog past as : “Keeping users safe”. However, twitter manage to stop one attack in its tracks, but after deeper investigation it was determined that the attackers might have already gained access to nearly 250,000 user accounts with username, password and email addresses along with the session data of these user accounts. So, if you notice your links between Twitter and Facebook are not working, or you cannot tweet picture of your party from your phone, checkout your email and reset the password of your twitter account.
Already Twitter has sent mails to the affected users email addresses explaining that passwords and session tokens have been revoked and will have to reset with a new password. Twitter also reminds users to have the best practices of managing passwords. After all, you do not want to be one of those victims that use weak passwords.
“The attack was not the work of amateurs rather it was an extremely sophisticated. This news is been publicized in an effort to alert other companies who might suffer similar attacks”, says Bob Lord, Twitter director of Information Security.
