Viber Out vs Skype Out: A battle of life and death !
Viber is a free calling and messaging service that requires an Active Internet Connection. You can call other people on viber. But the only disadvantage is that there is no blocking service and once a number is added on to your phone, you can disturb another person any way you want. How troubling. Isn’t it? Well.. Anyway, Viber is coming out with Viber Out which is an international calling service. It costs you a few bucks but should be cheaper compared to your ISD Rates. Telecom companies are the real beggars of a country. I know this sentence might be removed if it has to get published but everyone knows that’s the truth.
Skype is a Microsoft acquired software which has a main job of calling numbers internationally or locally. Skype is now being offered integrated to any Microsoft device like the Xbox One, Windows 8.1 running tablets, laptops and PCs (offered as a replacement to the Messaging app) and it is offered as a free download to the WP range of lineup.
Its a battle of the two international calling services- Viber Out and Skype Out.
Viber Out over Skype Out
- The cost is relatively cheaper.
- New service, so should offer a refreshed UI
- Can speak longer as less cost.
Skype Out over Viber Out
- Very reliable service.
- New is not always better
- Quality of the service be it calling or Video calling is Best and is worth the money.
- Better security/privacy compared to Viber
Both require credits which require an in app purchase or IAP which needs real money. This is just my opinion of the two calling services. I prefer Skype as it is more secure. In Skype, you need a user name whereas in Viber, all you need is a telephone number which can be easily taken from a global telephone dictionary- Truecaller. You can type in a name and o pressing enter, the number is displayed on screen. Most of the numbers are not displayed by Name but some numbers are displayed. But you can choose whichever Service you like most.
