Volvo announced First Ever Pedestrian Air bag on a car – Video

Air bags on a car, can definitely save the life of the people inside the car. But the life of the pedestrian is also precious as much as the people inside the car. Volvo’s latest announcement proves this. The leading car manufacturer has designed a car “Volvo v40” which comes with a pedestrian air bag. Volvo has also released a video strip that explains how it works.

Here’s how it works: When the Volvo V40 front bumper hits a pedestrian, the sensors attached to the car registers the contact. The hood moves up slightly and a U-shaped air bags pops out over the windshield. The pop-ed air bag protects the person’s head and neck when he slips on the windshield. According to the study, most of the time during accidents pedestrians are injured by getting a hit on their head when they slip over the car’s windshield.
