Windows Phone 8.5 Under Development! And so is WP 9
Another news from the insider- Windows Phone Emulator software. The software has just given us the information that Windows Phone 8.5 is under the works as WP 8.1 is nearing official announcement. We are also speculating the release of WP9 which is to be expected in quarter 3, though that may not be the case seeing the release of WP 8.5.
Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to come with new features. The Metro UI is going to be replaced with something else. Though, that shouldn’t be a complete overhaul, some functionalities might be changed, like the background in the tiles rather than in the background of the phone and so on, being unique in every aspect. The Update time for the tiles in the WP8.1 will be changed from the half an hour to 1 minute (1 minute being the shortest time, though you can choose to keep the 30 minutes also). Here is the screenshot of the WP8.5 in WP Emulator.
The image is saying that the secondary tile may be altered. Don’t know what that means. But all the info will be available from the BUILD conference going to happen in April.
Now, on to news about Windows Phone 9. All the news is coming from one person- Eldar Murtazin. This guy was the one who speculated about Microsoft acquiring Nokia and that did happen, right? This time, he is saying that WP9 will launch around q3 or q4 of this year.
This version of Windows Phone or rather to say, just Windows will be a version to unite all the different which are fragmented- the desktop version, the RT version and the Phone version. If all the version were to unite, then Microsoft will once more be on top. This could also lead to the killing of the WP8 platform, though that wont happen any time soon as the development may not go at a faster rate. Microsoft is looking to design its OS based more on Android than on iOS.
The tile removal move is also logical in that sense. The desktop mode should come as a standard as it came in Windows Mobile. Hope this version will be available as an update to Windows Phone 8 devices and not be left as a stand alone update or a fresh one much like the transition from Windows Phone 7 to Windows Phone 8 wherein, users with Wp7.5 were left with the 7.8 update and nothing more!
And here is a video of the real Cortana demoed on video.
