The next version of Android will be called as “KitKat” and not “Key Lime Pie”
It has been quite sometime since rumors suggested that the next Android version would be called as “Key Lime Pie” and the version number would be 5. Somehow Google also hinted during the Google I/O 2013 with a video presentation of a little Android eating key lime pie. Now nearly five months later, Google announced that its next android version would be called as “KitKat” and not “Key Lime Pie“. The report also says that, the version number would be Android 4.4 and not Android 5.0. While we wonder, why Google code named it as ‘KitKat’ and here’s what Android Google plus page says.
“KitKat has been a favorite candy on the team for some time, so for the K release, we asked if they’d (Nestle) be willing to lend their iconic candy bar to its name.”
There was no agreement or money exchange between Nestle and Google in the collaboration featuring famous codename ‘KitKat’.
