Google wants .google,.lol,.youtube,.doc domains

Google  on its official blog has said that, it has requested a slew of domains like .google, .lol, .doc and .youtube domains to ICANN. The search engine giant has applied to control the above domains to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. ICANN, the international authority who assigns the top level domains to sites globally is expected to announce which of those requests will be added to the existing .com or .gov. “In 2016, it’s estimated that almost half of the world’s population will be online, yet nearly 50 percent of the websites we visit are found in the .com top-level domain (TLD), which was among the first TLDs created in 1984”, says Google on its Official Blog.
