Google Talks with DTH Operators to bring YouTube to household Televisions
India being the world’s fastest growing market for YouTube, Google is now eyeing on India’s vast population through TV’s. Francisco Varela, Global director of platform partnerships at YouTube says that : “Google and DTH cable providers in the country are in talks to bring YouTube videos directly to TV sets”. With this initiative, YouTube will be brought to the people around the country who don’t have Internet access.
Varela promised to make the service available as soon as possible and that YouTube will be available on every possible screen in the country. Most of the Indians being entertainment-crazy until now they have stuck with TV’s with very few moving to the latest smart TV’s. This made Google to think on this new concept to reach wider and large Indian audience who do not need an Internet connection to watch YouTube videos through DTH.
Indians are keen to see this new service and the charges for viewing YouTube videos in DTH ? Whether with regular fee the subscribers would be able to view YouTube videos or will Google provides videos still for free as internet users with ad-based revenue model is not known yet ?
Indian youths being the top viewers of YouTube in India makes an excellent platform for companies digital marketing who exclusively targets these youths !
