Intel Rose point integrates Wi-Fi with the processor – 32nm in size!
Rose point, Intel’s surprising move towards the competing mobile world. Intel the chip company is all set to reveal its new project Rose point in ISSCC (IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference). According to the reports, Rose point integrates wireless radios such as Wi-Fi with the processor, which would substantially reduce the size of the chip and of course make it cheaper.
The chip is a 32nm system-on-chip (SoC), that has a dual-core Intel Atom processor and a digital Wi-Fi radio embedded into a same silicon. There are possibility of components being corrupted when they are placed close to each other, but Rose point has anti-radiation and noise-cancelling shielding that prevents the components from being corrupted.
Intel’s move towards developing tiny chips can lead to more efficient mobile chips and can be manufactured at a less cost.
