Nexus 5 torn down. Repairability score is pretty high
The people at iFixit are at it agin and this time with a brand new Google Nexus 5. Those of you who don’t know them, they are like breaking experts who can put back the device again to working condition. They remove all the screws and see the repairabilty score for a variety of devices like HTC One, One Max, etc to name a few. The Score varies from a range of 0-10 with ‘0’ being the least repairable and ’10’ being the most repairable.
iFixit is a private company based in San Luis Obispo, California. It was founded in 2003 and the company sells repair parts and publishes free wiki-like online repair guides for consumer electronics and gadgets on its web site. The Nexus 5 is held together by plastic clips which are stubborn, yet easy to open with a simple tool. The smartphone was applauded for the minimal use of foam adhesive in its construction.
As a whole, most components of the Nexus 5 are easy to remove and replace if necessary. The biggest exception is the display – it is integrated to the front panel, so a replacement will potentially be a costly affair. So if you have a Nexus 5 and its broken (woah! It is way too soon for that.), (for the phone) you can view the iFixit guide to get it repaired and (for you) make sure you get your hands checked by a doctor!!
