Samsung to introduce the first 1TB SSD
SSD or Solid State Drives are the latest in trends and are set to replace the traditional Hard drives or the HDD. But SSDs have their own disadvantage. The capacity in which they come are really low and are more realistic for phones and tablets as in built storage but then the 256GB SSD came by and flash storage for phones were also redefined. But that was the limit up till now. The solution? Samsung has the answer. Samsung has built the world’s first 1TB SSD which will find the way to your PCs or Laptops of the future.
The Samsung SSD is named the 840EVO and the type of SSD is mSATA. The write and the read speeds are amazing and are clocked at 520MB/s and 540MB/s respectively. Random read and write speeds are rated at 98k and 90k IOPS. The SSD comes with Samsung Magician 4.3 Software which can also see speeds of up to 1000MB/s for writing in RAPID mode. This is also called over clocking.
The 1TB capacity is fitted in to the small factor by accommodating 4 groups of 16 128GB NAND Flash memory chips. There are two types of Memory- NAND and NOR. But NOR is random used and now only NAND chips are used. There is a huge difference between the two. The availability of the chip will be starting this month but the price is not known. If you are heavy space user, this might be your type of SSD. But you are not, then you can go for the 840EVO 120, 250 and 500GB SSDs as well.
