Windows Phone OS beats iOS in Latin America!
Now, that is some good news for die hard fans of Windows Phone like me. I will just do anything for my Windows Phone. WP8 beats iOS in Latin America and it is now the second largest OS in the continent.
Windows Phone OS started with Windows Phone 7 which gradually raised to 7.5 Mango. Microsoft then came up with a new type of architecture which is the same as that of the Windows Family. The NT Kernel. This gave rise to Windows Phone 8. Windows Phone 7 and Windows Phone 8 are not compatible with each other. This is rather a big disadvantage to Microsoft. If there was any update which combined both the WP7 and WP8 update (not just cosmetically) people would just love it just like how Android combined the tablet version and the Smartphone version in Ice cream Sandwich. WP8 had a very less share when it launched and was struggling to get a 2% share in the market.
The sales of the devices were rather disappointing but now that the ads don’t come in and the updates come more features and the OS is becoming rather stable. People don’t mind about the additional features missing. The basics are what is important and with the GDR3 update, Microsoft is sure to close the gap between WP, iOS and Android. The people of Latin America have shown that WP is the best option after Android. The market share is around 20% this quarter. Nokia should be the main contender who could achieve such a feat especially with its Lumia 520. Keep that up Microsoft and Windows Phone OS is sure to rock.
