Yahoo! To discontinue several Messenger Features to refocus on other development efforts

Yahoo! Messenger ( YIM or YM) is an advertisement-supported instant messaging client provided byYahoo!. Now Yahoo had many updates on closing several features off the YM that the company feels, aren’t adding enough value to the users

On the official blog, note states,” Sometimes, this means we have to make tough decisions — like closing down features that we feel aren’t adding enough value for you. This helps us spend more energy on creating experiences that make Yahoo! the most fun way to spend your time. This will enable us to refocus our efforts on modernizing our core Yahoo! products experiences and of course, create new ones.”

Okay, lets see whats going to be taken down.

Yahoo! Messenger Public Chat Rooms which have been a place to communicate with friends who share your interests closes down on December 14, 2012.

Yahoo! Messenger Pingbox through which you can chat privately with another user eve without revealing your personal id, will no longer be available on Yahoo! Messenger, as of December 14, 2012.

Yahoo! Messenger interoperability with Microsoft Windows Live Messenger 
Yahoo! Messenger will no longer be interoperable with Microsoft Windows Live Messenger as of December 14, 2012. As a result your messages sent to your live messenger buddies will not be delivered.

Yahoo! Voice Phone In and Phone Out feature – Yahoo! voice features for  Free PC-to-PC calls and calls to landline and mobile phones be ineffective from January 30, 2013.
