WhatsApp, a mobile messaging service consists of over 700 millions users across the world. Until yesterday, Jan 21st 2015, all those users were able to use WhatsApp through their mobile devices. But now for the first time, WhatsApp allows its users to use their favourite messenger over the web too. The WhatsApp web uses Google’s Chrome browser to mirror your conversations and messages from your mobile device. It means, all your messages will always remain on your mobile and a copy of it can be accessed through the browser as well.
How to use WhatsApp through browser?
The first and the foremost is your WhatsApp should be updated to the latest version – 2.11.498 or higher. Once done, open WhatsApp and navigate to menu as shown in the below pic to find the “WhatsApp Web”.
Open WhatsApp on web:
Currently WhatsApp Web only works in Google Chrome browser. We would see many more browsers adding to the list in future.
Go to https://web.whatsapp.com on your chrome browser to see a QR code, scan the code inside of WhatsApp, and you’re ready to go. As you can see from the web page, WhatsApp web is available on Android, BlackBerry, Nokia S60, Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 OS based phones. Unfortunately for now, the Web client is not available to iOS users due to Apple platform limitations. But don’t worry, it should soon be on its way!
How to scan QR code inside of WhatsApp?
On your mobile device, click the “WhatsApp Web” which opens the camera to scan the QR code. Point your device camera towards the QR code on the browser and once scanned successfully, WhatsApp on your phone will be paired with WhatsApp web client.
Enjoy using WhatsApp Web
Once you have successfully paired your WhatsApp on your phone with the WhatsApp web client, you can access your WhatsApp client and messages from your browser and even send messages too.
Your phone needs to stay connected to the internet for the web client to work. To reduce data usage, WhatsApp suggests to connect your phone to Wi-Fi.
