When HP and Lenovo are flaunting their imminent release of Android based desktops for home and business uses apart from the Windows platform they currently provide, several others plan to integrate the both of them.
Although being one of the biggest and widely-known chip giant, Intel had not made a big deal of this new idea at its CES press conference. With the help of its OEM partners, the company has decided to release PCs that run both Android and Windows 8.1 simultaneously and this is going to happen soon. But Intel is not alone. AMD has also announced its interest in such dual operating system and revealed its partnership with BlueStacks. AMD aims to bring the Android experience to Windows based tablets, 2 in 1s, desktop and laptop.
AMD, with BlueStacks, will let you run the full Android interface, on top of Windows 8.
Well, Intel and AMD’s idea isn’t unique. It probably struck a lot of companies, triggered a few startups as well. It’s also now known that Asus has released its Transformer Book Duet that runs both Windows 8.1 and Android 4.2.2.
Intel, AMD, HP, Lenovo, and Asus all are big fans of the idea of having Android on the desktop. It’s natural for people to think that this will be a shot in the dark as Microsoft has already defined desktops and laptops and has a deep-rooted market in that field. But it isn’t so. Many businesses believe that Android would play an integral role when coupled with desktops. As a matter of fact, Microsoft—of all companies!—seems to think people will want a dual-boot Android/Windows smartphone.
