In 2012, Kurio launched a tablet targeting young ones and now, the same company has launched a smartphone for kids with an interesting tagline “Safest smartphone for kids”. The announcement was at CES in Las Vegas, which is actually an Android smartphone with pre-loaded parental controls. It means, the parents will be able to control children’s mobile usage, by controlling apps, websites, services and time. Did I say, the parents can control the phone remotely? You can easily control the phone usage via website dashboard.
The kids will be able to make a call or message someone only after their parents sign-off. Later, the adults can view the phone’s history; that is call log, messages sent and received and internet browsing history. Another notable and important feature is the geolocation tracking, which helps parents to keep track of their kids at a set time interval. For instance, you can track your kids location every 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 60 minutes and set alerts to tell them the current location of their little ones.
Well, now the specification of Kurio mobile; the device will run Android 4.2 Jellybean and comes with 1GB RAM, a 4-inch display screen with a pixel resolution of 480×800, 3G, WiFi and GPS. It will also sport 4GB of internal storage and expandable up to 36GB via microSD slot.
The price and release date of the phone is not known.
