We are now in the year 2014. There are some things that are new and some things old. In automotive industry, more new and new cars produced and old cars scrapped. And this year, many automobile manufactures have given a thought to redesign few of their success cars too. And this list goes long starting with Honda City 2014, Toyota Corolla Altis 2014, Hyundai Verna 2014 and many more.
Although 2013 was a year that had some wonderful vehicles, let’s now see what all cars we scrapped from the year 2013 owing to the low sales or not-the-very-much needed change.
Skoda Fabia
Skoda Fabia is the first model of Volkswagen India’s Plant at chakran in 2009 and it picked up sales upto 5000 units in its first year. Despite its good quality build up the spares and maintenance were the main issues in it. So Skoda wasnt making money out of this. So it decided to scrap the Fabia inspite of the various makeovers the car got. It just wasn’t worth it, which Skoda realized later.
Honda Accord
The car that you see below is actually a coupe version which is available abroad. But if this version had hit India, It would’ve been a massive hit despite its price range. THe manufacturers just don’t know about our country and think that developed countries are more worth it, which we need to change of course. The Indian version of this model was heavily priced and wasn’t much of a sale. SO thus, Honda decided to get this baby off the charts.
Honda Jazz
The sister of the Accord- the Jazz wasn’t much of a hit among its music lovers. The car sold about a few thousand units and that’s about it. Though I have come to like the car just about recently, I would say that it wasn’t all that great of a car. Maybe what the Jazz wants to say would be said by its younger sibling- the Brio. Honda tried introducing some new technologies, but that didn’t seem to affect the sales of the Jazz.
Hyundai Accent
The decade old Hyundai Accent was finally scrapped from the production line. The car is now being replaced by the more Fluidic models like the Verna, Elantra and the Sonata. This means adieu to the car.
Maruti 800
The Maruti 800 is the life of an Indian family. The car has been around for generations together. The car would complete what we otherwise call a middle-class family. Then it was time- the company had enough of this. They want change. So they decided to scrap the car. And the company has to change its design and utilities that come with the car to match those of the foreign standards. Otherwise, the company has to shut down permanently.
