Samsung to merge its Wireless and Digital Imaging Divisions

Updated on December 15, 2013

Samsung Electronics is going to go in an altogether different path so that it stands ahead of the competition. It is trying some new moves to enhance its productivity. It is going to merge its Wireless and digital imaging divisions.

The move comes to enhance its imaging services and create devices like Galaxy Camera. The Galaxy camera was a great device but its only drawback was that it was very heavy and bulky which lead to not being easily pocket-able. You have to carry it in your hands which was really a hassle. With the merging of the divisions, it should give more features in terms of imaging to its camera phones and tablets. The S4 Zoom was also similar to the Galaxy Camera and it got heavily criticized, especially by Nokia. This is what Samsung is saying at the moment:

We will transplant the brand, sales networks, software competency and
manufacturing competitiveness of the Wireless Business Division into the
Camera Business Division, and integrate the technical know-how of the
two business divisions into competency for differentiating our
smartphones.”

This can be a move which will be implemented in the S5 but we didn’t see any improvements from the S3 over to the S4 and saw some addition of bloatware features which are very useful to drain your battery.  Only time will tell how things will turn out. Keep watching this space for more.
