If you love to Jailbreak your device, then you might be aware of the new Evasion release and the speculations raised among the Jailbreak community. Well, the drama was around the inclusion of Taig Chinese App store and evad3rs tried giving enough explanation about the deal. At Techglimpse, we also saw the Letter sent by Evad3rs to the Jailbreak community stating that there was no fishy things happened during the deal and the user privacy is very important to the company. Still, many jailbreak lovers were hesitant to install evasion7; due to the rumor threatening that user’s private data are being backdoored to China. But the recent tweet from Geohot says “Evasion7 doesn’t have any such backdoor”.
Here’s the snippet of Geohot’s Tweet.
“This writeup takes place from the perspective of evasi0n7. F*ck secrets. Note that this writeup doesn’t help Apple, I got this by reversing the public evasi0n binary, which they can, and do do. Also note, I found nothing sketchy in my reversing, your phones most likely aren’t being backdoored by Chinese. If I ever touch jailbreaking again, which is unlikely(until ARM128 comes out, I only touched the game again for the love of ARM64), no more secrets. Full disclosure time, I was working on a public, free of charge, china not involved, old school jailbreak with a few others. evad3rs released first. That jailbreak overlapped this one 80%, partly due to leaks, but mainly due to the exploits and methodology being the obvious choice(great minds, well you know), meaning the exploits won’t be usable next time. No more jailbreaks ever?”
Geohot was working on his own Jailbreak, but didn’t get a chance to release it. But the developer got his hands to reverse engineer the evasion7 app and found that there is ‘nothing sketchy’.
