Here’s a quick guide to help you unlock Stock Android Operating System on your Nexus devices. The guide will work only for devices that run Stock Android OS. It means, if you are using device with custom UI from manufactures, then this guide is not for you. The guide will take you through various steps and it should work on Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Before we get into this, remember to take a backup of your data.

To start with, you need to have Android SDK downloaded and installed on your PC.
Step 1: Once the Android SDK is installed on your PC, switch Off your device and boot it into bootloader mode. If you are using,
Nexus One – Then press and hold the Power button and trackball.
Nexus S – Press and hold both the Volume-Up and Power buttons.
Nexus 10 – Press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons.
Nexus 4 – Press and hold Volume Down and Power buttons.
Galaxy Nexus – Press and hold Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons.
Nexus 7 – Press and hold Volume Down and Power buttons.
Step 2: Now connect the device to your PC via USB and wait until the necessary drivers are installed. Mostly the drivers will be installed automatically.
Step 3: Jump to the command prompt or terminal on your computer and execute the following command.
fastboot oem unlock
Wait until your device shows a screen with the prompt about unlocking Bootloader. Just go through the instructions and confirm by pressing volume up button followed by the power button.
That’s it! You have successfully unlocked Android on your Nexus.
