I like the “Snipping Tool” in windows, but apart from let you to capture screenshot easily, the tool has only limited features – namely highlighter, eraser and pen. If you need few extra options like; capturing the screenshots in different shapes, uploading directly to online storage service of your choice and sharing them automatically with a shortened URL; then ‘Neox Screen’ for windows can help you.
Neox Screen is a free utility that lets you to capture images in different styles such as rounded rectangles, diamond, polygon, ellipse, triangle and free hand. Apart from capture, the notable features are – it lets you to save the image directly to an online image sharing service of your choice. It also allows you to upload the files, texts and images directly to different websites and share them using an automated shortened URL.
Once installed, Neox Screen runs in the system tray and will pop-up to the screen when double clicked. Use the top toolbar to access the options like Clipboard upload, file upload, capture, destinations, history and settings.
Capturing the screenshot is really simple like Snipping Tool, where you can just drag the mouse to select the area to be captured. Capturing mode can be selected from the list or hitting its corresponding hot key. For Instance, hit Control+Shift+R for Rounded Rectangle shape, Control+Shift+E for Ellipse shape, Conrol+Shift+P for Polygon shape etc…Once the image is captured, Neox will upload automatically to any of the online service like TinyPro, Imgur, Flickr, Photobucket, TwitPic, Uploadscreenshot, twitsnaps, File Uploader and yfrog. This facility is invoked by default, but can be disabled to store the file locally on your desktop.
History dialog box will let you trace back the previously uploaded images using date, file name, type and host filters . You can also configure hot keys to invoke Clipboard Upload, File Upload, Full screen, Active Window, Active monitor, Window & Rectangle, Rectangle region, Ellipse region, Diamond region etc…
To conclude, I am using the tool and it is really awesome. Neox Screen is freely available for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
