Updated on September 1, 2017

It happens to everyone, sometimes you might want to pause music or lower the volume quickly. For instance, you might be listening music with your headphones while working and suddenly your boss comes and talks to you. You will have to remove your headphones or unlock the device, go to music app and pause the track. All that in a hurry burry. Instead how about putting a hand over the device to pause or lower volume? Cool isn’t? Here’s an app called “easyMute” that uses the device’s proximity sensor to automatically pause music or lower volume to the pre-defined level once the sensor is covered with your hand.

The app is available for free on Google Play store. Once installed, the app can be configured quite easily. It features two toggle buttons, which lets you to trigger the app’s service and adjust settings. The app can be told to launch automatically when the device is rebooted. Interestingly, you can control the app’s behavior so that it doesn’t pause the music everytime you put the hand over proximity sensor (even accidently). For instance, the service can be enabled only when the device is placed over the table or any flat surface.

The app works on almost all music players including stock Android music app and N7. easyMute is quite simple and yet impressive. Checkout the app and lets you know your feedback as comments.
