Do you love an audio played in an app? If you wish, you can extract the audio and set that as a ringtone on your iPhone. A new jailbreak tweak called “AudioExplorer+” lets you to scan all the installed apps on your device to identify the audio files. Once done, you can choose to import your favorite audio file into iTunes or use it as ringtone. The app can be downloaded from the BigBoss repo of Cydia for $1.99. Once the app is installed, any music that you love in an app; it can be a background music from a game or a sound from your favorite reader app – can be used as a ringtone or store it to your iTunes library.
When the app is launched for the first time, it will ask you to scan all of your installed apps in search of audio files. The time taken to search, is based on the number of applications you have installed on your device. Approximately it should take few seconds to scan around 50 apps. Once the AudioExplorer+ completes scanning, it displays all the identified audio files in an alphabetical order. In case, if you ever wanted to know the path of an audio file, then just tap the disclosure triangle, selecting Open in > Path viewer.
To add the sound file to your iTunes library or to your ringtone library, just tap the blue colored triangle located on the right side of the sound you wish to add and tap “Add to” > iPod Library or Ringtones. When the sounds are added to the queue, just tap the “Save” button in the top left corner of the Queue page. Now, just move to Settings > Ringtone to choose and set the ringtone you just imported.
AudioExplorer+ is really a cool idea to extract your favorite sound from any app and use it to set a custom ringtone. But if you feel, the app is costing few bucks, then there is a free version as well. The free version is just called as “AudioExplorer”, which is bit slower than the plus version.
