How many of you still remember your childhood days of computer games? That too specifically the Prince of Persia? I still cherish my childhood days and playing the game every time I go to my computer class. The story of the game goes like this : In ancient Persia, there lived a sultan who had an only daughter whose beauty was like moon in a clear heaven. One day, the sultan left his kingdom to fight in a foreign land.
In his absence, the princess fell in love with a young traveler who climbed the palace wall to see her. This did not please the sultan’s grand vizier Jaffar who meant to marry the princess himself. Seizing power, Jaffar had his rival thrown into the dungeons. Now at this point of time, I was that traveler who have to escape from the dungeons and fight my way to Jaffar. The fate of the princess was in my hands!
The old prince of persia was developed by Brøderbund Software, Inc. in 1980. Unfortunately this game did not have the multiplayer option. Now most of us have started playing on our smartphones! These games are more addictive and interesting in killing time.
Today to rejoice my childhood days, I thought of downloading and playing the game on my PC running Windows 7. But I couldn’t run it on my PC. Only then I searched for the ways to trick and start playing! For all those who stuck at the later stage, let me explain the method to play the Prince of Persia on Windows 7.
As it was a DOS game, you will need to use a DOSBox, which emulates DOS and the environment in which DOS ran in the past (including memory management and sound configuration, but with the power of your computer today).
Download and Install DOSBox
1. Go to the download section on www.dosbox.com
2. Download the desired package (Win32 installer)
Download and Extract Prince of Persia
1. Goto www.oldversion.com where you would get the old version of popular computer applications.
2. Search for “Prince of Persia” and download.
3. Create a new folder on your computer, for ex: c:\\games\\prince
4. Extract the downloaded zip file into the above folder.
Let’s get the game working in DOSBox
1. In DOSBox, type in mount c c:\\games and press enter (This creates a virtual drive C: within DOSBox, which points to the games folder on your local C: drive)
2. If your folder names includes spaces, you have to use quotes around as shown below:
mount c “c:\\games”
3. Type in C: to change the drive
4. Enter into the prince directory with the below command.
cd prince
5. Type in PRINCE and press enter to start the game.
Then why are you still here? Start playing buddy! Coming to latest games, these 20 Must Play Games on iOS and Android are very addictive and interesting.
