There are couple of solutions to this problem; either you can rush to your Home and grab your device or try to gain remote access and switch it Off. Oh! now you remember that you have to attend a meeting with your boss that ruins your plan of going home. So it would have been better if you had enabled Remote access on your Android device. That’s ok! you can follow the below guide, so that the next time you can remotely access your device to power it Off.

Well, that’s quite simple provided you have rooted your device. Here’s a simple tutorial that lets you to remotely Power Off your Android device via SMS.

Requirements: A ROOTED device. If you haven’t rooted your device, then you can follow this guide to do so.

Head on to XDA developers forum and download an app called “Remote Power Off by SMS” and install it. The app works by executing the power down command on Android, but you will have to trigger it via SMS containing a phrase power#off and send it to your device from any mobile to shut it down automatically.

You will have to download the “Remote Power Off by SMS” app and place the APK into the /system/app folder and set correct permissions and you should have “reboot” binary in ‘system/bin’ or ‘system/xbin’ to execute power off command. Once it is installed, you can test it out by sending SMS with the phrase power#off to your Android device and it should ask root permission.
