There is a lot happening out there and the best way to keep track of all those is via news reading. But sometimes you can be bored, as the uninterested topic chip in-between and you lose focus on the main stories (I mean, the stories that you love to keep track of). Well, that’s where the apps like Flipboard stands out, which allows you to read the topic that interests you. Here’s another news app called Pipes with a simple interface, but with loads of options to choose from. Pipes is available for both Android and iOS.
- Just download the app from the link provided at the bottom of this page and sign-in with your Facebook or Google Plus or Twitter account. You might also want to skip this step by tapping “Skip this step”.
- In the next step, simply tap on the plus (+) sign in the upper right and then search your subject. The app already comes in with the general ongoing topics like “World Cup” in the list of Trending Pipes.
- Have you created your pipes? Now you will see them on the main screen and when you tap on it, you will see two options-Headlines on that topic and Wikipedia of that topic.
- The app comes with an option to schedule notifications; for instance, get notification once, twice or not at all for the day. You can do it for one, two or any number of pipes.
Final Word
Well, the app has few glitches – some of the major problems are deletion of a pipe (which is peculiar). All you need is to swipe through the pipe to delete it, but if you access your pipe list from somewhere else, it shows up again. Sometimes the app does not show the source of the headlines and it doesn’t seem to work well when you tap on “View on Web”. According to the developer, the bugs will be removed in the next update and if that happens, Pipes can be one of the best apps in the news reading pattern.
