When hands free gained momentum, people were seen walking all over the place seemingly talking to self. My mother still remarks, “What a peculiar fellow”, every time she sees people talking into their headset. I am already dreading her remarks once she sees people talking to (no, not on, but to) their phones.
But, it’s time we all embrace the fact that mobile phones are cheap knockoffs of human race. In future, if you cannot find a single body to talk to, then talk to your phones instead. At least, it won’t retort back. All it would do is obediently follow your commands and do all that you want it to do. Meet Commandr, your new slave!
The irony of the situation is the slave’s name
It indeed is!
Commandr is an app which boosts your Google Now features. For those of you, who’ve already used Google Now the shortcomings of the app is no stranger to you. While its capacity to follow voice commands is commendable, it still leaves the users panting (Oh! I meant wanting) for more.
That’s where Commandr takes over. It does a lot more than Google Now’s layman initiative to send a message or call up a buddy. It would let your Google Now
- Switch on or switch off the Wifi,
- Turn on or turn off the Bluetooth,
- Same applies for GPS and camera LED lights, as well (selective phones),
- Play music on your playlist, pause, resume, forward and move back into the list and dictate notes, all this and much more only by way of giving commands.
The only setback I can think of is its limited functions and repetitions. Every time you wish to command, you’ve got to say, “Ok Google” followed with, “note to self”. Then, one may have to wait for a little longer than a nano-second for the voice command to be interpreted and then followed. In case, it doesn’t follow your command, it will take you to your usual apps like Gmail or Google Keep.
But then, it is diligently working towards the app’s development. How can I be so sure of that? They are taking votes and are open for customers’ collective demands. You need to issue a command which the app doesn’t support? Tell them (the developers), they’ll do the needful!
But before that, here are the upcoming features which they are already working on. Don’t end up demanding any of the following as they would soon be on your phone without you having to ask.
- Wolfram Alpha Integration,
- Reading out your Gmail loud and clear,
- Wifi hotspot can be switched on or off,
- With Waze’s assistance it’ll launch navigation and
- Switch on or switch off NFC
