HTC Launches Dual SIM Sets for India

Updated on September 1, 2017

HTC is the new name in the dual SIM smartphone producers in India. With their Desire 600 line, HTC seems to be looking to make a stand in the Indian market which is recently being crowded by phablets and Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) sporting smartphones. The Desire 600 is the first in this series sports double GSM capabilities with a screen just shy (4.5 inches) of the benchmark 5 inches. The second, more recent handset is the 600c, which sports a different dual SIM option – CDMA+ GSM. This means that there is an additional SIM card slot provided excluding the preset CDMA connection. Although users cannot have two detachable and replaceable SIMs operating simultaneously, it looks like HTC has some reason sound reasoning behind this feature.

The CDMA+GSM feature is not the only differentiating element between the Desire 600 and Desire 600c. HTC clarifies that both of the handsets also possess different external designs. So, unlike most manufacturers who are bringing new improvements with the same designs in place, HTC has gone ahead and made their products look non-identical. Powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processors and 1 GB RAM, the devices come with an internal storage of 8 GB which can be expanded up to 64 GB courtesy microSD slots. The primary and front facing cameras are 8 MP and 1.6 MP respectively. It is not yet clear if the devices will be running the 4.1 or 4.2 version of the Android Operating System. The HTC Desire 600 was launched earlier this year at a price of about 27K INR, which is a bit on the higher side compared to Micromax and Karbonn which are top grossing competitors for dual SIM smartphones in the Indian market.

HTC was a favorite among users before the era of the phablet came on. Will it be able to win them back with the Desire 600 series? Let us know!
