Does your iPhone battery drain quickly? – Quick fix.

Updated on September 1, 2017

Many complaints has been raised in the Apple’s support website about the iPhone battery problems. Most of the iPhone 4S users said  that  the battery drains out very quickly even when the usage is very minimal. According to the reports from “UK’s Guardian” newspaper, Apple has sent the reports for analyzing the battery problem.

Reports say, that a location-based feature that detects when the user physically moved to a different time zone and then resets the clock accordingly. This switching between the time zone might have caused the battery to drain out quickly.

The time zone feature polls the cell phone towers to find out the user’s current location.  The phone’s location-tracking setup triangulates information on the power of cell tower signals in order to situate the device.

The quotes from Guardian,

It appears that iOS 5?s GM release introduced a bug that causes the Setting Time Zone function to keep the location tracking circuitry running constantly, draining battery power considerably. Switching it off may mean that your iPhone will no longer set its own time zone when you travel, but that’s a small price to pay for having your iPhone last more than 12 hours on a full charge…We have tested this method on 4 different iPhone 4S handsets, including an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 3GS. All have reported drastically improved battery life after switching “Setting Time Zone” off.

Switching off the time zone settings is the temporary fix to the battery drain out problem.

“Setting Time Zone” is found under Settings/Location Services/System Services.
