How to cache or save Google Maps 7 for Offline use on Android?

Updated on September 1, 2017

To everyone surprise, Google removed the feature that allowed users to cache maps for offline use. We are not sure why Google removed such an useful feature in latest maps update. But luckily there is a hidden trick that allows you to cache maps for offline use. Ok, It means you will never find a button that allowed you to make a copy of the maps for offline, but instead you will type “Ok maps” in the search bar (without quotes).

Here’s how it works,

Step 1: Open the map that you wish to cache it and leave it to load fully.

Step 2: Once the map is fully loaded, just tap on the search bar and type ‘Okay maps’ or ‘Ok maps’. You should not be bothering much about the suggestions, so just ignore them and tap the search button.

Step 3: You will be taken to the main interface of the app with a notification alerting you that the map has been cached. That’s it!
