There is an old saying which goes like this- “Old is gold”. But now, things are different and even companies are looking for cut costs in manufacturing and go in for cheap materials. They build it with the worst quality materials and force it down your throat. In the end, it results in waste of money.
Now, why am I saying all this? I’ll ask you a question. What OS do you use? Windows or the Mac? If you use Windows, what version of the OS? Windows 7 or Windows 8? I know most of you prefer Windows 7 over to Windows 8 due to its UI and usability. But lots of people still use Windows XP and the number of heads is slowly rising. When I ask why you prefer XP, they say that this OS has all the possible software for, lets say, hacking and productivity.
Most of the software won’t work with Windows 7 unless you have Compatibility mode for all users or you use Windows XP mode which is a free 500MB download. Even though there are no security providers and the support is going to cease soon- this April, people tend to use the 13 year old OS. The OS that is preferred and is the successor to Windows 98.

Linux which is based on the UNIX platform and has not changed much of its core when compared to Windows, is only preferred by a small majority of the population. This could be due to the UI being much like a DOS interface with you typing commands to execute certain applications. This limitation was overcome by Ubuntu and Fedora also follows a GUI. But still, certain tasks are to be done via a Power Shell which is rather annoying – not for the geeks, but for a simple common man. Here is a chart that’ll explain things easier.
Windows 7 continues to power about 47.49% of the PCs within few months of its release, but its successors- Windows 8 and 8.1 have failed to do so which can be due to the change in UI to match with its phone UI. This may not welcome support but do wait as the OS stabilizes. Then it will be fun to use. Windows Vista is on the decline; Linux and Mac combine and suffer to give a solid 5%. It is Windows all the way.
