Micromax A91 – The Ninja!

Updated on September 1, 2017

Micromax seems to have made a smart move with launching its smart phones. The secret is E-Commerce. In recent times, Micromax has been bringing out phones the quiet way, ironically, using a medium that is known to make the most noise (the internet, of course).  The 12th largest manufacturer of handsets has been carrying out this operation by way of E-Commerce partnerships, while also updating their own website to draw online shoppers to check out their other products. The next in the list is the Micromax Ninja A91 handset. True to its name, the Ninja was also released using an E-Commerce portal.

Micromax is known to pack a lot of features into even entry level budget phones; especially since their foray into the smart phone market. Therefore it’s easy on the wallet but still packs a punch. The Ninja A91 has not been spared in terms of looks as well as functionality. The phone’s operating system is Google’s open-source platform, in other words Android. The Ninja comes equipped with the Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 version of Android, which incidentally is one update away from Jelly Bean 4.1 and 4.2; both of which are known for smooth interfaces and awesome user experiences. The screen is a 4.5 inch capacitative TFT display. The A91 runs on a 1 GHz dual-core MediaTek processor coupled with a budget 512 MB RAM. While the RAM could have been better, it would be mindful to recognize that the price tag would also have to subsequently go upscale. When it comes to memory capabilities, the Ninja boasts a 4 GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB via micro SD external memory card. A primary rear end 5 megapixel camera is standard issue these days, while the front facing secondary VGA camera is a bit of a surprise. It might not be good enough to snap self-portraits without looking at the back of the phone, but the possibility of Skype or any other type of video chatting capabilities does add up to be a plus point at this price. WI-Fi, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, and Bluetooth facilities are standard issue.

As is the case with most Micromax handsets, especially the smartphone range, The Ninja A91 comes with dual-SIM capability; with both SIM cards being able to work simultaneously. The battery boasts 1800 mAh power, which simply translates to a good back up. Right now, the handset only comes in Black, but other color options might be opened up later into production. At a price tag of just below 9,000 INR there aren’t many complaints about the phone. Seeing it as it is, this is a value-for-money deal. Micromax has not officially launched this product yet, which means that the only way to get it right now is through E-Commerce portals. There is talk that the official launch may even be given the slip, while continuing transactions online. Micromax – It’s nothing like anything? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
