Attention All Units! Suspect Apprehended.

Updated on September 1, 2017

One small step for technology, a giant leap for mankind. No, we’re not misquoting the famous quote. We’ve just adapted it to the current circumstances. News from the New York Times has revealed details about a new pilot app developed for the NYPD that may just make solving the case faster for the cops on the beat.

The NYPD has begun a new pilot program by providing about 400 of its officers with a special Android App smartphones. Though most patrol cars can boast of mounted laptops, their speed is nothing to be proud of. To counter this, the cops have been provided with these smartphones which can pull up suspect data on the spot. No need to worry that the cops may get busy on the phone and overlook a suspect – the call feature has been disabled on these phones.

Smartphones can now help catch the bad guys too!

The custom app seems to be a mini-felon-record-database on the move, if the news report is to be believed. The app lets the cops perform multiple actions ranging from looking up felon records with details of individual fetishes to pulling up video footage of cameras aimed at a particular location. Not just that, the cops can pull up details of every record including open warrants, arrest and incident records, protection orders with photographs of everyone in a particular building, so no acting smart anymore and trying to pass off for your nerdy friend with a spotless record.
